Deputy Foreign Minister Kyriakos
Gerontopoulos met yesterday, Tuesday, 7 October, with members of the
U.S. House of Representatives Gus Bilirakis (Republican), who is of
Greek origin, and Jack Kingston (Republican).
Mr. Gerontopoulos underscored the excellent level of Greek-U.S. bilateral relations, which are based on both traditional strategic cooperation in international fora and the very active Greek American community.
He also referred to
the Cyprus issue, reiterating Greece’s longstanding positions. Mr.
Bilirakis expressed the Greek American community’s readiness to
contribute substantially to Greece’s efforts with regard to national
issues and attracting investments.Mr. Gerontopoulos underscored the excellent level of Greek-U.S. bilateral relations, which are based on both traditional strategic cooperation in international fora and the very active Greek American community.
During the discussion, they looked at issues concerning the situation of the Greek Minority in Turkey, protection of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, the reopening of the Halki Seminary, and facilitation of foreign investments in Greece.
