The chairman of the European Union Military Committee (EUMC) on Friday
started his visit to the South Caucasus country of Georgia to boost
military cooperation between the EU and Georgia.
During the visit, General Patrick de Rousiers met with Major General Vakhtang Kapanadze, Chief of the General Staff of the Georgian Armed Forces, over Georgia's participation in EU-led operations including the peacemaking mission in the Central African Republic, in which 140 Georgian troops participated.
"I would like to thank all the military personnel who perform the missions with us," said Rousiers.
"The Central African Republic president and EU representatives are grateful to the Georgian military forces which help ensure the delivery of humanitarian assistance to the local population," he added.
Kapanadze also briefed his visitor during the meeting about Georgia's military reform.
"We are determined to further deepen the EU-Georgian relationship in the military sphere," said Kapanadze.
