Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy was in Barcelona on Saturday to
close an event of Spain's ruling Partido Popular, claiming he was
willing to dialogue but warned that he would not allow people to
question the "unity" of Spain.
He said that all Spanish people had the right to decide what they wanted for their country.
This was the first time Rajoy was in the northeastern region of Catalonia, where Barcelona lies in, after the non-binding poll over the region's independence was held on November 9.
The vice-president of the regional government of Catalonia, Joana Ortega, stated that she did not hear any proposals from Rajoy on Saturday, but only discrediting remarks about the poll.
