Italian police arrested a group of migrants for allegedly throwing 12
Christians overboard and killing them during a sea journey from Libya,
CNN reported on Thursday.
According to the report, the Muslim suspects from Mali, Senegal and the Ivory Coast, threw 12 the Christian passengers, who hailed from Nigeria and Ghana, overboard during the dangerous journey by rubber boat to the Italian coast. All those who were thrown overboard were killed.
Palermo police reported that attempts were made to throw more people overboard, but they "strongly opposed the drowning attempt and formed a human chain," according to Palermo police.
The Italian navy intercepted the rubber boat and transferred the passengers onto a Panamanian-flagged ship, which arrived in Palermo on Wednesday. Arrests were made shortly thereafter.
