Θέλουμε να σας βοηθήσουμε αλλά δεν έχετε πολιτική! (ΧΑΣΤΟΥΚΙ ΑΠΟ ΟΗΕ ΓΙΑ ΤΟΥΣ ΜΕΤΑΝΑΣΤΕΣ)

Με μια φρασεολογία που δεν θυμίζει σε τίποτα διπλωματικές διατυπώσεις ο Οργανισμός Ηνωμένων Εθνών ξεμπροστιάζει την ελληνική κυβέρνηση ότι δεν έχει κάνει τίποτα για να διαχειριστεί το τεράστιο πρόβλημα του μεταναστευτικού.

Ο ΟΗΕ καλεί την ελληνική κυβέρνηση να αναλάβει τις ευθύνες της και εξηγεί ότι η έλλειψη συντονισμού και οργάνωσης είναι ο βασικός λόγος για τον οποίο οι υπηρεσίες των Ηωμένων Εθνών δεν μπορούν να βοηθήσουν στην διαχείριση της ωρολογιακής βόμβας των δεκάδων χιλιάδων μεταναστών και προσφύγων που καταφθάνουν συνεχώς στην Ελλάδα.

«Αν η (ελληνική) κεντρική αρχή ερχόταν με ηγεσία και όραμα και διόριζε κάποιον που θα συντόνιζε αυτή την απόκριση, τότε εμείς και άλλοι διεθνείς οργανισμοί θα ήμασταν έτοιμοι να έρθουμε και να βοηθήσουμε», δήλωσε ο Ουίλιαμ Σπίντλερ, εκπρόσωπος της Ύπατης Αρμοστείας του ΟΗΕ για τους Πρόσφυγες.

«Αλλά είναι δύσκολο για εμάς να έρθουμε και να αρχίσουμε να εργαζόμαστε επιτόπου αν δεν υπάρχει κάποιος υπεύθυνος» τόνισε ο κ. Σπίντλερ.

Η Ύπατη Αρμοστεία των Ηνωμένων Εθνών για τους Πρόσφυγες (UNCHR) επανέλαβε ότι από την αρχή του χρόνου μέχρι σήμερα στις ελληνικές ακτές έχουν φτάσει 160.000 πρόσφυγες και μετανάστες και κάλεσε την Ευρωπαϊκή Ένωση να υποστηρίξει την Ελλάδα στο θέμα των προσφύγων.

Σχεδόν 250.000 μετανάστες έχουν φθάσει στην Ευρώπη διά θαλάσσης μέχρι τώρα φέτος και τουλάχιστον 2.349 έχουν πεθάνει κατά τη διάρκεια του ταξιδιού, αναφέρει ο Παγκόσμιος Οργανισμός Μετανάστευσης (IOM).

«Θα θέλαμε να τονίσουμε ότι μένουν άλλες 135 ημέρες φέτος. Έχουμε κάθε λόγο να περιμένουμε πως ο συνολικός αριθμός των αφίξεων θα ξεπεράσει τις 300.000», δήλωσε ο εκπρόσωπος του οργανισμού Τζόελ Μίλμαν.

• Debt-laden Greece struggles to tackle record number of illegal immigrants

• The United Nations told Greece it must show "much more leadership" in tackling the escalating crisis of migrants crossing the Mediterranean.

"The number of refugee arrivals to Greece which have been increasing dramatically and have now reached the 160,000 mark and this is as of the 14th of August," William Spindler of the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) said at a Geneva news briefing on Tuesday.

To underscore the deadly risks migrants are taking to reach Europe, six Syrian migrants, including an infant, drowned off the Turkish coast Tuesday as they tried to reach the Greek island of Kos.

Responsibility to do more
The UNHCR on Tuesday said the Greek government has a responsibility to do more, and the European Union must also support Athens.

"If the (Greek) central authority would come up with a leadership ambition and appoint somebody who would coordinate this response, then we and other international organizations would be ready to come and help. But it is difficult for us, if there is, to start working on the ground if we don't have somebody who is in charge," the UNHCR’s Spindler said.

"The conditions in Athens are equally poor as on the islands,'' Spindler said, adding that the vast majority of people arriving in Greece will leave the country for other European destinations after a few days.
