ReplyDeleteVladimir Poutine a obtenu mercredi matin des sénateurs russes l'autorisation de déployer les forces armées russes en Syrie à la demande du président syrien Bachar al Assad.
La requête présentée par le Kremlin et adoptée à l'unanimité par le Conseil de la fédération ne concerne que le recours à la force aérienne et pas à des troupes au sol, a précisé Sergueï Ivanov, chef de l'administration présidentielle. La Russie est engagée depuis cet été dans un renforcement de sa présence militaire en Syrie, où elle soutient le régime Assad, menacé par les djihadistes de l'organisation Etat islamique (EI) et d'autres groupes rebelles.
"Le président syrien a demandé à la direction de notre pays une assistance militaire", a précisé Ivanov. Des médias ont indiqué que des avions russes étaient déjà entrés en action en Syrie, information que le Kremlin a refusé de confirmer. Cette approbation survient alors que Poutine a appelé lundi à la tribune de l'Onu à la création d'une coalition élargie en Syrie contre l'Etat islamique (EI). Les Occidentaux, qui frappent déjà l'organisation djihadiste depuis l'été 2014 en Irak comme en Syrie, le soupçonnent de vouloir avant tout réhabiliter Assad.
