The South Korean government expressed disappointment over Japan's decision to release contaminated water into the ocean from the Fukushima nuclear power plant without consultation.
On Wednesday, the government said it is (quote) "deeply disappointed" over Tokyo's decision to go ahead with the move and that Japan should immediately put a stop to its plan and communicate with neighboring countries.
The remarks come as Tokyo decided in April to start discharging over one-million tons of water stored at the Fukushima nuclear plant into the Pacific Ocean starting in 2023.
