Beijing Says EU Lawmakers' Taiwan Visit Harms China-EU Ties - Tasnim News Agency

(Tasnim) – China has warned the EU not to escalate ties with Taiwan after reports said a delegation of EU lawmakers were scheduled to visit Taiwan next week.

One-China principle is widely recognized by the international community and serves as the political foundation of the establishment and development of the diplomatic relations between China and EU, Chinese Mission to the EU said on Tuesday in response to the scheduled visit, CGTN reported.

The EU and its member states should abide by the one-China principle and not develop any kind of official ties with Taiwan, it said.

European Parliament is an official institution of the EU, and such a visit will severely violate EU members' commitment to the one-China principle and jeopardize China's core interests, eventually damaging the relations between China and EU, it added.
