The activities took place with the participation of the Egyptian frigate "Alexandria" and the U.S. amphibious ship USS Portland, it said.
"The drills are part of the Egyptian Armed Forces' efforts to promote military relations and exchange of expertise with different countries," according to the statement.
The joint exercises covered naval combat activities and security naval measures at the Red Sea amid presence of specialists from both sides, followed by the implementation of a set of combat operations that aimed at securing sea navigation and global trade movements against any threats.
Egypt regularly holds joint military exercises with other countries to boost military collaboration and exchange military expertise.
