Russia about the transfer of cluster shells to Kyiv: the answer will be tough

The transfer of cluster munitions by Washington to Ukraine will be followed by a tough response, the Russian Federation hopes that the international community will appreciate this situation, Grigory Karasin, head of the Federation Council committee on international affairs said.

Earlier, a White House spokesman announced that the United States would begin transferring cluster munitions to Ukraine.

"Ukraine has provided written guarantees that it will use these munitions very carefully - in a way that minimizes any risks to the civilian population," Sullivan assured.

The United States will transfer cluster munitions to Ukraine, National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan announced at a briefing at the White House.

"A new step towards escalation around Ukraine, to which the response will be very tough. I hope that the international community will appreciate the situation, which is becoming increasingly alarming and raises serious concerns about where the situation is slipping from unilateral decisions that are incomprehensible to absolutely common sense Washington and NATO leadership," Karasin said.
He noted that Russia, "of course, will respond to this."

  1. The US transfer of cluster munitions to Ukraine does not violate a congressional ban on the export of such weapons, said US Under Secretary of Defense for Political Affairs Colin Cole.

"We are not breaking the law," he said at a briefing at the Pentagon.
According to him, the ban applies to the export of more than 1% of the units available to the United States.

  2. The humanitarian aspect of the use of cluster bombs in Ukraine does not outweigh the desire to prevent Russia from winning the conflict, said US Under Secretary of Defense for Political Affairs Colin Cole.

"I'm concerned about the humanitarian situation, but it's worse for the civilians in Ukraine if Russia wins, so it's important that they don't win," Kohl said at a Pentagon briefing.
